Here’s another timeless whiskey drink… the Old-Fashioned Cocktail. It’s a simple, classic cocktail that’s been around a very long time! The Old Fashioned is basically a sugar cube soaked in bitters with whiskey and an orange peel for essence. Optional cherry garnish if you like!
The Old Fashioned Cocktail is a nice way to fancy up some whiskey! The sugar brings a little sweetness while the bitters adds a bit of dimension to the cocktail. It’s a crowd pleaser, especially for whiskey lovers. Sometimes, simple is better. Looking for another simple, classic whiskey cocktail? Check out the Sazerac Cocktail or the Manhattan…no muddling of sugar needed that one. Cheers!

Ingredients
- 1 sugar cube
- 3 dashes Angostura bitters
- 2 oz. Bourbon, rye or whiskey (use what you like best)
- Orange peel
- Cocktail cherry to garnish, optional (I like Luxardo cherries)
Instructions
Add sugar cube to an old-fashioned glass. Soak with the bitters and muddle, then add the bourbon. Add ice – I like to use one big ball of ice but you could certainly use a few regular ice cubes. Stir well. Twist the orange peel over the drink to express the orange essence, then drop into drink. Garnish with cherry, if desired.
